What We Do
Operation Grassland Community (OGC) is a grassroots organization that works with prairie landowners and ranchers in southern Alberta.
Our goal is to conserve prairie habitat and wildlife, while allowing ranchers to sustain themselves and live productively.
OGC has focussed largely on voluntary stewardship and conservation planning to achieve its goals. We do this through a collaborative land stewardship process that—through ecologically and economically sound management practices—reach rangeland condition and habitat goals. The collaborative process brings stakeholders to the table and moves toward finding local solutions to local problems. Visit the links in this section to learn about our stewardship initiatives, habitat enhancement projects, wildlife surveys, and more.
